Jokaisen uuden R-mallin julkaisu on ollut Yamahalle mullistava hetki, eikä R9 ole tähän poikkeus. Vaikka tämä Supersportin seuraava sukupolvi merkitsee uuden luvun alkua, tarina pysyy samana, sillä R9 perustuu Yamahan kilpa-ajon DNA:han. R9 on Yamahan korkeimman tason kilpaurheilun tuote, joka sisältää kilpailuissa kehitettyä teknologiaa ja MotoGP-muotoilun piirteitä.



R9:ssä on käytetty kilpa-ajossa koeteltua teknologiaa ja yhdistetty se kehuttuun kolmisylinteriseen moottoriin. Tämän vääntövoimaisen voimanlähteen ja Yamahan kilpatarkan käsiteltävyyden yhdistelmä luo täydellisen tasapainoisen supersport-mallin.



R9:ssä on säilytetty useita MotoGP:n innoittamia ratkaisuja samalla kun R9 edustaa uudelta sukupolvelta odotettua edistystä. Sen R1-tason jousitus sekä Brembo-etujarrut takaavat tarkkuuden, hallittavuuden ja ketteryyden, joista Yamahan Supersport-mallisto on kuuluisa.
